He shoots, He scores!

This last weekend was Riley's first soccer game. When asked if he had fun, his reaction was "Well, kind of. I almost fell asleep." In U6 AYSO soccer, there are only 3 kids at a time on the field, no goalies (or score kept on goals), and the coaches from each team are the referee. Our team had only one practice before our game, so taking that into consideration things went well! Many goals were made in the opposing goal, lots of hands were touching the ball, and kids were running all over, so needless to say it was good entertainment!

(Riley is number 7) Our friend, Gail, is coaching so things are fairly low key and the importance of fun, making new friends and learning new skills are being emphasized rather than win, win, win. Which I hope will help make this a postitive experience for Riley and he will really enjoy the sport and want to continue on.

Our team definately did not go over the skill of "Line up and High Five" before the game, so when game time was over and the other team lined up for their "High Five" our team was clueless and Riley gave me a look of "Are you kidding???". Maybe coach will cover this at the next practice! :-)
